Nauset Lighthouse in Eastham, Massachusetts

Travel Uncategorized

The iconic red-and-white lighthouse stands along the Eastham shore, a cast-iron tower that has guided ships since 1877. Originally built in Chatham, Massachusetts, the lighthouse was moved up the coast to Eastham in 1923, where it still watches over the Atlantic.

In 1980, the Bernard brothers founded the Cape Cod Potato Chip Company, creating a healthier chip with a logo featuring Nauset Light. The instantly recognizable image became inseparable from the brand, and when Campbell Soup Company acquired the chips in 2018, the lighthouse kept its starring role on the bag.

Today, volunteers offer free tours for those curious about the lighthouse’s history. Visitors are welcome to leave donations — and for the perfect photo op, you can bring your own Cape Cod chip bag, or borrow the oversized prop one kept on hand for the occasion.
