Lergravsbibiloteket (The Lergrav Library) in Sweden

Travel Uncategorized

Lergravsbiblioteket invites you to borrow a book, take a book, or leave a book.

Be sure to keep your eyes open while driving down this road. If you blink, you might miss a curious little structure that will restore your faith in humanity.

In 2017, this former phone booth was repurposed into a haven for book lovers. It is run by a local “secret librarian” (whose identity is just a Google search away), and its rules are simple and refreshingly trusting. Borrow a book, take a book, or leave a book. No library cards. No late fees. No judgement if you walk away with a Nordic noir paperback or a guide to mushroom foraging.

Be sure to write in the guest book, which is filled with greetings, book recommendations, and the occasional unsolicited piece of life advice. If you have some leftover money, the library encourages donations to charity.

This rural roadside wonder proves that your vacation can be filled with something other than just scrolling your social media feeds. The love of books (and the joy of stumbling upon something unexpected) is very much alive.
