Spain’s Extremadura is not short on wonderful natural attractions, but Cerro Masatrigo, also known as “Magic Mountain”, is one of the region’s most striking sights.
This geological wonder emerges from the waters of La Serena reservoir and captivates visitors with its almost perfect conical shape. The hill becomes an island every time the reservoir’s waters rise, rendering the view even more stunning. Masatrigo was declared a Natural Monument in 2023 and the surroundings offer various hiking trails – it is 463 meters to the top and the views from the summit are spectacular.
The EX-322 road travels around the entire hill in a large roundabout of around 1.3 km – claims that it is the largest in Europe are hard to verify, but it is safe to say that it is one of the most stunning in the world.
