Pele and Gypsy Womanl by Niall O’Lochlainn

Down the laneway off St Peter’s Road along the side of Dalymount Park are numerous murals painted over the years relating to Bohemians Football Club (aka BOHS) and beyond.

Current murals include ‘Gypsy Woman’ and ‘Pele’ by Niall O’Lochlainn. The Pele mural recalls when his Santos side faced a selection of players from Bohemians In 1972. A new mural ‘An Cumann Peile Bóihéamach’ (Bohemian Football Association) on the St Peter’s Road entrance was recently painted and as of writing another new one opposite is being created. Many are in the Bohemians F.C. colours of red and black.

Other iconic figures memorialsed are Phil Lynott, Jack Charlton and Bob Marley.

Several of Dalymount Park’s murals are due to be removed during the demolition of the stadium which will be replaced by a new €40 million one but after completion, due in 2028, new murals will be added to keep the tradition going.

The Dalymount murals are easily accessible 24/7 but best to visit during daylight hours. The laneways are clean compared to the nearby Cabra Park Urban Gallery accross the road.

Bohemians F.C was founded on 6 September 1890 and Dalymount Park has been its home since 1901 and hosted its first game on 7 September that year.
